Are you as frugal as these multimillionaire celebrities?
Not many people associate frugal living with big Hollywood celebrities, but you’d be surprised by how many frugal celebrities live relatively modest lives, in spite of their huge fortunes.
Just because you have millions in your bank account doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be careful with how you spend your money.
We can all learn a thing or two from these frugal celebrities.
1. Jennifer Lawrence drives really conservative cars
Even after starring in The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence drove a modest Volkswagen Eos for years. The vehicle is described by Cheatsheet as “more of a car for an actor new to Hollywood looking to make a name.”
Since then, she has upgraded to a Chevy Volt, an eco-friendly car. “We get the feeling she doesn’t really go for the flashy rides,” says Celebrity Cars Blog.
2. Kristen Bell uses coupons
On an appearance on the Conan show, the start of The Good Place and Veronica Mars said that she still uses coupons. She’s especially fond of the coupons from Bed Bath & Beyond, which she described as “the best coupon you can get, possibly in the world.”
When Bell and her husband Dax Shepard got married, their wedding cost just $142 — including gas to get to the Beverly Hills Court House.
3. Sarah Michelle Gellar loves a good bargain at the grocery
“Why should you pay more for something that someone is paying less for?” Sarah Michelle Gellar asked Self magazine, after revealing that she always looks for bargains when grocery shopping.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star would ask which fish is on sale, and she’s not above clipping coupons either.
4. Sarah Jessica Parker is really careful with her money
After growing up in poverty, the Sex and the City star knows the value of money, and how easily she could lose everything she’s worked for.
“The thing I want most for my children — I would like for them not to be aware of money, which means I have been very aware of my financial situation,” she told the New York Times.
She also revealed to Parade magazine that her son only wears hand-me-downs from Parker’s older nephews.
“I think it’s incumbent on my husband and me to really stress and to show James Wilkie by example what it means to owe your community something and that he is not entitled to the benefits of our hard work.”
7. Lady Gaga loves the sale rack
The pop star revealed in a 2012 tweet that she’d use coupons at the grocery or hit the sale racks at retail stores, even though she does get weird stares.

8. Zooey Deschanel is refreshingly thrifty
When the New Girl star divorced Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, TMZ got a hold of the court documents and got an intimate look at her financial history.
What did the documents reveal? Deschanel is quite a spendthrift.
Even though she’s worth millions, Deschanel would typically spend $2,000 on clothes, $800 on utilities, and $300 for her phone and internet bills. She’d also donate $1,500 a month to charity.
9. Tyra Banks takes hotel toiletries home
Even though she’s worth millions, Tyra Banks lives an incredibly frugal life.
“I am frugal. I’ve always been this way,” Banks said in an interview with The New York Times. “When I was young, my mom would give me my allowance, and I’d peel off a little each week and have some to spare.”
Banks has admitted to taking hotel shampoo and soap home. During the first season of America’s Next Top Model (back when the budget was a little tight), Banks had to raid her own closet to dress up the girls.
“I took all this stuff from Victoria’s Secret that I had in my closet—bandeau dresses, bandeau tops, bandeau skirts,” she told New York Magazine. “I put them in a trash bag on my back on the plane because I was scared that if I checked it, it would get lost and we wouldn’t have wardrobe.”
10. For years, Jay Leno didn’t spend any of his TV money
For years, the former The Tonight Show with Jay Leno host didn’t spend a cent from his TV money. In a 2009 Parade column, he revealed that he only spends money from his comedy tours.
“When I was a kid, I had two jobs,” wrote Leno. “I worked at a Ford dealership and at a McDonald’s. I’d spend the money from one job and save the money from the other. That’s still the way I am now. I live on the money I make as a comedian, and I put all the TV money in the bank. I’ve never spent a dime of TV money—ever.”
11. Halle Berry knows the importance of saving
Even though she makes millions of dollars every year, Halle Berry is very mindful in the way she spends.
“I am very thankful for my good fortune, but one of my biggest fears is that I could lose it all,” she told Daily Record. “I am not someone who has to have 10 cars and lots of diamonds. I am pretty frugal. I save a lot because I am always worried about when this trip is going to end.”
12. Kate Middleton repeats her outfits
The Duchess of Cambridge’s elegant style has made her a fashion icon. But she has also been seen wearing the same outfit more than once — a move that has gained the admiration of many.
13. Keanu Reeves likes living simply
Keanu is one of Hollywood’s most valuable stars, but he still takes public transportation and still enjoys a good sandwich on a park bench. He also famously gave away money to The Matrix franchise’s special effects and costume design team.
While making The Devil’s Advocate, he also agreed to take a pay cut so the producers could afford to pay Al Pacino. He did the same thing while making The Replacements so he could work with Gene Hackman.
“Money is the last thing I think about. I could live on what I have already made for the next few centuries,” he told Hello magazine.
