These three female trailblazers paved the way for today's women.
Right in time for International Women’s Day, Barbie is releasing dolls in its the Barbie Inspiring Women line to honour both historical and modern-day female role models from all over the world.
Called “Inspiring Women“, the new line highlights awesome women who have made history.
“You can’t be what you can’t see”
“As a brand that inspires the limitless potential in girls, Barbie will be honouring its largest line up of role models timed to International Women’s Day because we know that you can’t be what you can’t see,” said Lisa McKnight, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Barbie
“Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie and we are thrilled to shine a light on real-life role models to remind them that they can be anything.”
The historical women in the Barbie Inspiring Women line
The Barbie Inspiring Women line includes three game-changing women from history:
Amelia Earhart – The first female pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean.
Frida Kahlo – An artist known for her unique style and activism.
Katherine Johnson – A NASA mathematician who broke not only the barriers of gender, but also race.
To honour modern-day role models, Barbie is also making one-of-a-kind dolls of 14 women who have “broken boundaries in their fields and have been an inspiration to the next generation of girls”.
This batch of women includes athletes, performers, activists, entrepreneurs, and more.
Barbie has previously honoured women through its Shero program, which started in 2015.
