Anna Gong, one of the biggest names in the Asian tech scene, started off in the corporate world before venturing into startups, eventually turning Perx into one of the world’s leading loyalty and customer engagement SaaS platform. In this short chat, we pick her brain and learn a thing or two about what makes her tick.
What is it you do?
I’m the CEO and Founder of Perx Technologies. I run all aspects of the company as well as product vision, direction, and development.
What’s a typical day in the life of Anna?
Meditate first thing in the morning, exercise 3 times a week, customer and sales meetings, product reviews/discussions, recruitment, firefight and problem solve throughout the day, strategizing and executing, travel and on the plane, after work meetings, repeat, etc…
What’s the hardest thing you have had to deal with in your life?
My mother’s cancer diagnosis, seeing her struggles and her final days.
If you could go back in time, what’s one thing you would tell your younger self? What would you have done differently?
Don’t let image and noise taint and distract you. Focus, keep it simple, and follow your dreams and goals and push forward, harder!!
What motivates you to keep going when the going gets tough?
Seeing the immense possibilities and upside of the business.
How do you relax when you’re not working?
Meditate, exercise, non-profit work & mentoring.
What tools do you use that are indispensable? What can you not live without?
My iPhone and everything in it.

There are so many, but I suggest…Peter Thiel’s Zero to One, Ben Horowitz’s The Hard Thing About Hard Things and SaaStr Podcast.
What are you working on at the moment?
Fundraising, sales, and recruitment.
If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Greatness does not come easy. Lean into discomfort, and allow yourself to experiment by taking risks. Fail, learn and grow.
